Arrangement on the fly

The longer we are involved with something - in Steve Bug's case, club and nightlife - the more we act intuitively and freely. As a DJ with decades of experience, it is naturally easier to set an arrangement. After all, he has spent years studying what is important. Poker Flat Head explains how he designs his productions with the help of some as yet unreleased tracks.

Mixing Essentials

Of course, Steve Bug can't avoid the mixdown either. The key is to create space - for the main elements, but also for the mix as a whole. Every sound has its own area where it can unfold and shine. Anything that goes beyond this area takes away the radiance of the other sounds. Result: the track doesn't go down well in the club. How does Steve create a lively sound? Check out his master class!

Creating ideas

Steve Bug only needs a few sounds for entire tracks. But “less is more” has rarely made as much sense as in the creations of the Berlin DJ and producer. He works with selected, high-quality synths and sounds, which is reflected not only in his sound but also in his efficiency. This leaves him more time for creative jams instead of wasting it on unnecessary frequency filtering.
